New Minimum Fixed Salary Required for Singapore Work Pass Holders to Sponsor their Dependant.

Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has reviewed the minimum fixed salary required for work pass holders to be eligible to sponsor their dependants. A higher monthly fixed salary will be required to sponsor dependants.

Effective 1st September 2015, Singapore work pass holders must meet the following criteria in order to sponsor their dependants:

 (1) New Application for Dependant Pass (DP) & Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) for Common Law Spouse

(i) Work Pass holder must earn a minimum fixed monthly salary of S$5,000 instead of S$4,000 in order to sponsor dependant/long term visit passes for their spouses, common law spouses and children.

(ii) New DP applications for spouse/children and LTVP applications for common law spouse received before 1 September 2015 will be assessed on pre-1 September 2015 criteria.

(2) New Application for Long Term Visit Pass (LVTP) for Parents

(i) Work Pass holder must earn a minimum fixed monthly salary of S$10,000 instead of S$8,000 to sponsor their parents.

(ii) New LTVP applications for parents received before 1 September 2015 will be assessed on pre-1 September 2015 criteria.

Renewal of DPs & LTVPs

To reduce disruption to families who are already here or who have already made plans to arrive soon, DP/LTVP issued or approved before 1 Sep 2015 will remain valid as long as the main pass holder has a valid EP/S Pass.

The renewals of DPs & LTVPs which submitted on or after 1 Sep 2015, the passes will not be affected so long as the work pass holders have a valid work pass with the same employer.

Approval of each application whether new or renewal is subjected to MOM discretion.

With the new salary requirement, companies must take note of the new criteria to ensure that foreign applicant and employees are able to support their dependants while in Singapore.
